Want to recreate the Unforgettable UNO Cards transition trend with your own favorite character and vehicle? In this beginner-friendly guide, I’ll break down how I made my version using Jack from Oggy and the Cockroaches, his green monster-truck SUV, and a card-swipe transition that reveals the vehicle behind him.
The idea is simple: the character starts in front of a familiar background with no vehicle visible. They raise UNO cards toward the camera, the cards swipe across the lens, and when the transition clears, the vehicle has appeared behind the character. The character then steps aside so the full vehicle can be seen.
I generated my video using Wan 3.0 inside Kaze.ai. You can try the same workflow with Wan 3.0 or another AI video model available to you. The exact results will vary depending on the model, reference images, and settings.
Watch the Trend Reference
You can also use your own Reel as the video reference when generating your version. Use it for pacing and transition rhythm, not to copy unrelated people or visual details.
What You’ll Learn
- How to prepare three image references and one video reference.
- How to structure the prompt so the character, background, and vehicle stay consistent.
- How to build the 10-second UNO card-swipe reveal.
- How to prevent common problems such as black bars, cropped framing, and a vehicle hidden behind the character.
- How to customize the prompt for your own character, location, car, art style, and transition prop.
The Four References You Need
Before generating the video, prepare the assets. The prompt uses reference tags so the model can understand which image or video controls each part of the result.
Reference 1: Your Character — @Image1
Choose a clear image of the character you want to use. In my version, this is Jack, the muscular green cat with a red nose from Oggy and the Cockroaches. The prompt tells the model to preserve the character’s design, colors, and proportions.
Reference 2: Your Background — @Image2
Choose the location where your character will stand. My reference shows a house with a purple roof, teal garage door, green lawn, and pink path. The background should remain consistent before and after the transition.
Reference 3: Your Vehicle — @Image3
Use a clear image of the vehicle you want to reveal. In my version, it is a green monster-truck SUV with an orange grille, big black tires, and blue headlights. The vehicle should not appear in the opening shot; it appears only after the card transition.
Reference 4: The Video — @Video1
Attach the trend video or your own Reel as the video reference. In the prompt, @Video1 is used for pacing, timing, and card-swipe transition rhythm only. It should not be used to copy the reference video's person, face, clothes, location, framing, or black bars.
Step 1: Understand the 10-Second Timeline
The prompt divides the video into five short sections. This makes it easier for the model to understand what should happen and when.
| Time | What happens |
|---|---|
| 0–2 seconds | Character poses in front of the background. The vehicle is not visible yet. |
| 2–4 seconds | The character raises the first UNO card; a second card swipes across the lens. |
| 4–5 seconds | The cards clear, revealing the same composition with the vehicle now parked behind the character. |
| 5–8 seconds | The character points at the vehicle, then steps aside to reveal its full body and all four wheels. |
| 8–10 seconds | The character holds a proud pose while the vehicle remains fully visible. |
Step 2: Use My Exact Prompt
This is the exact prompt I used for my version, featuring Jack, the house background, the green monster-truck SUV, and the UNO card-swipe transition. Copy it into your AI video workflow and attach the references in the correct order.
📋 MY ORIGINAL PROMPT — COPY & PASTE
@Image1 is the character: Jack, the muscular green cat with a red nose. Keep his design, colors and proportions exactly as shown. @Image2 is the background: the house with the purple roof, teal garage door, green lawn and pink path. Keep it exactly as shown. @Image3 is the vehicle: the green monster-truck SUV with orange grille, big black tires and blue headlights. Keep it exactly as shown. @Video1 is for pacing, timing and the card-swipe transition rhythm ONLY. Do not copy the person, face, clothing, desert location, framing, or any black bars or cropping. 2D cartoon in the original Oggy and the Cockroaches style: flat colors, thick black outlines, bright sunny day, smooth classic cartoon motion. FRAMING: Full-frame vertical 9:16. The artwork fills the entire screen edge to edge. No cropping of the edges, no black bars, no letterboxing, and no zoom-in that cuts off the scene. Extend the background naturally to fill the vertical frame. Locked static camera, chest-up close-up on Jack, no pan, no shake. 0-2s: Jack stands in front of the house from @Image2. There is no car in the scene yet. He glances to the side, turns to the camera with a smug look, bobs his head to a beat and gestures with one hand, with cartoon squash and stretch. 2-4s: Jack raises a green Uno card with a big "2" up to the lens, covering most of his face. A second Uno card with a "4" swipes fast across the lens and fills the screen as a clean swipe transition. A quick whoosh sound on the swipe. 4-5s: The cards clear to reveal the exact same frame: same camera angle, same house, same sky, and Jack in the same position. The only change is that the vehicle from @Image3 now sits parked behind him on the pink path. 5-8s: Jack looks back at the vehicle, points at it with his thumb and grins proudly. Then he steps to the side with one arm swept out in a "ta-da" gesture, giving the camera clear space. The entire vehicle is now fully visible, whole body and all four wheels, with nothing hidden behind Jack. 8-10s: Jack stays to the side, flexes slightly and looks at the camera with a proud smug grin. The vehicle stays fully in view, centered, with the house behind it. Audio: upbeat playful rhythm, whoosh on the card swipe. No dialogue, no subtitles, no text on screen. Avoid: cropped edges, black bars, letterbox, zoomed-in crop, 4:3 framing, 3D render, realistic style, real person, human face, desert background, changed character design, different house, car visible before the transition, car hidden behind Jack at the end, extra characters, watermark, camera pan, camera shake.
Step 3: Customize the Prompt for Your Own Version
You don’t have to use Jack or the same monster truck. You can adapt the structure to your favorite character, a different background, your dream car, and a visual style that suits your idea.
Replace the bracketed sections in the template below with your own details. Keep the reference labels consistent with the images and video you attach.

How to Customize the Template
- Replace the character description. Name the character and describe the key features that must remain consistent. Keep the wording aligned with the image you attach.
- Describe the outfit if it matters. Include clothing, colors, accessories, and other details visible in the character reference.
- Describe the location. Mention recognizable elements such as the building, driveway, trees, sky, or path. Tell the model to preserve them.
- Describe the vehicle. Include its color, shape, wheels, lights, grille, and any other details that make it recognizable.
- Choose a transition prop. The UNO cards are the key visual cover. You can adapt the props, but describe exactly how they cover and swipe across the lens.
- Keep the timing clear. The five time blocks tell the model when the vehicle should appear and when the character should move aside.
- Choose the visual style. For my version, I specified a 2D cartoon look with flat colors, thick black outlines, bright daylight, and classic cartoon motion.
Step 4: Generate the Video in Kaze.ai
I used Wan 3.0 inside Kaze.ai to generate my version. You can use Wan 3.0 or another AI video model available in your preferred tool. The workflow may look different across platforms, so treat the following as the general process rather than a claim that every interface has identical controls.
- Open your AI video generation tool.
- Upload the character image, background image, and vehicle image.
- Attach the trend video or your own Reel as the video reference if your tool supports it.
- Check that @Image1, @Image2, @Image3, and @Video1 point to the intended references.
- Paste the original prompt or your customized version.
- Choose a vertical 9:16 output if the tool provides aspect-ratio settings.
- Generate a version and review the transition, character movement, vehicle reveal, and final framing.
- If needed, adjust the prompt and generate another version.
Step 5: Fix the Most Common Problems
Problem 1: The video has black bars or cropped edges
The prompt explicitly requests full-frame vertical 9:16, edge-to-edge artwork, no black bars, no letterboxing, and no zoom that cuts off the scene. If the output still has framing issues, check the aspect ratio and output settings in your tool as well as the prompt.
Problem 2: The vehicle appears before the transition
The opening needs to show the character and background only. The vehicle is meant to appear after the cards clear. Keep the instruction “There is no car in the scene yet” in the opening section and repeat that the vehicle should not be visible before the transition in the avoid list.
Problem 3: The vehicle is hidden behind the character
This is why the last half of the prompt tells the character to step to the side. It also explicitly requests the whole vehicle and all wheels to be visible. If the result still blocks the vehicle, make the character's final position and the vehicle's placement more specific.
Problem 4: The character changes appearance
Use a clear character reference and explicitly instruct the model to keep the design, colors, and proportions exactly as shown. Avoid giving conflicting style descriptions that might pull the result away from your reference.
Problem 5: The background changes after the swipe
The prompt asks for the exact same frame after the transition: the same camera angle, house, sky, and character position. The vehicle is the intended change. If the background changes too much, emphasize that the composition and background must remain unchanged across the transition.
Problem 6: The camera moves unexpectedly
The prompt asks for a locked static camera with no pan or shake. If your video tool offers camera controls, check those settings too. Prompt instructions can help, but they do not guarantee perfect compliance from every generation.
Why the Card-Swipe Transition Works
The cards are more than a prop. They temporarily cover the lens, giving the video a natural visual moment to switch from the empty background to the reveal with the vehicle. The repeated framing helps the before-and-after difference read clearly.
- Before: Character, location, no vehicle.
- Transition: Cards fill the frame, with a quick whoosh sound.
- After: Same location and character position, but the vehicle has appeared.
- Payoff: The character steps aside and presents the vehicle clearly.

Final Thoughts
The main trick behind this AI Reel is not simply asking a model to make a character stand next to a car. It is giving each reference a clear job, describing the action in timed stages, and using a card swipe to hide the moment when the vehicle appears.
I made my version with Jack from Oggy and the Cockroaches, his house background, and a green monster-truck SUV using Wan 3.0 inside Kaze.ai. Now you can use the customizable prompt to build your own version with a different character, setting, vehicle, and visual style.
Try it with your favorite character and vehicle, and see what you can create!
